    学名：Athene noctua

    英名：Little Owl

    形态：小型鸮类，体长20-26cm。面盘和皱翎不明显，亦无耳簇羽。上体褐色，具白色纵纹及点斑。下体白色，具褐色杂斑及纵纹。腹中央至肛周和覆腿羽白色，跗蹠和趾均被棕白色羽。

    虹膜黄色；嘴角质黄绿色；脚白色，被羽。

    分布：中国东北、中西部部分地区有分布。在保护区属不常见的留鸟。

    习性：栖息于低山丘陵、林缘灌丛等处。常立于篱笆及电线上，神经质地点头或转动。能徘徊飞行，猎食主要在黄昏和白天。食性主要以鼠类和鞘翅目昆虫为食。

    ID: Small owl.Body length 20-26cm.Facial disc and rim not prominent， and lacking ear tufts.Upper body brown with white streaks and spots.Underbody white with brown streaks.Central belly to vent and thighs white， tarsi and toes feathered buff white.

    BP: Eyes yellow； bill horn yellowish green； tarsi feathered white.

    SD: Uncommon resident.

    HH: Frequents lowland hills and bushes at forest edges.Perches often on fences and wires， head bobbing or turning when excited.Hunts mainly at dusk and in the daytime， flies back and forth.Feeds mainly on rodents and Coleoptera insects.
