河姆渡遗址博物馆位于余姚河姆渡镇，于1993年5月对外开放。江泽民先生亲自题写馆名。河姆渡遗址是中国东南沿海新石器时代原始村落遗址。
Reposes on hemudu Town of Yuyao，hemudu Site Museum opened in May 1993.Mr.Jiang Zemin inscribed the title.hemudu Site is the pioneer of New Stone Age sites in southeastern littoral of China.
河姆渡遗址具有浓郁的江南水乡地域特色，主要表现为：已经开始栽培水稻，从事以水稻作为主的农业经济活动；住房采用木结构干栏式建筑结构，在考古领域中被称为河姆渡文化。
hemudu Relic has the characteristics of watery town as its main agricultural activity was rice cultivation.Its paddy-plow agriculture and Gan-lan pattern constructions are provided with regional characteristics denominated hemudu Culture by archaeology circles.
河姆渡遗址博物馆由文物陈列馆和遗址现场展示区两大部分组成。文物陈列馆位于博物馆西侧，展出的出土文物、模型和照片共计300余件，全面、生动地展示河姆渡先民创造物质生产生活和精神文化方面的情况。遗址现场展示区以考古发掘场景复原和干栏式建筑重建，先民生产生活场景再现为文体内容。
hemudu Site Museum comprises an unearthed relic’s showroom and actual-site-located exhibition area.The relic’s showroom is in the west of the museum，including more than 300pieces of unearthed typical relics，subsidiary models and photos.hemudu ancestors’manufacturing，living and spiritual visages are reproduced here.The actual-site-located exhibition area recovers archaeological excavation spots，Gan-lan pattern construction group and scenes of ancient ancestors at work.
河姆渡遗址博物馆已获得全国优秀爱国主义教育基地等荣誉称号。
